Funnily enough, not too long ago, there was a time when you looked up or talked about “lawn apps in El Dorado,” neither humans nor the internet would think you were talking about something you could download. They might not know what they were, but they wouldn’t guess that.

When Divine talks about caring for your lawn with a lawn app, we’re not talking about your phone. Instead, we mean lawn applications that we spray onto your property. These treatments have many purposes, and today we’ll spend a little time getting into them.

What Are Lawn Applications?worker spraying lawn applications in El Dorado, Kansas

We begin with “the what.” Lawn applications are anything you spray onto your lawn to achieve the desired effect. They are also known as lawn treatments, and we use several at different times of the year.

Which Lawn Treatments Are Necessary?

Many homeowners take care of their lawns and don’t use any lawn treatments. As a result, they might not know anything beyond mowing. But as we’ve said before, lawn care is more than mowing.

Naturally, not every lawn needs every treatment, but below, we’ll discuss some of the most common treatments we use to ensure your yard isn’t just beautiful but Divine.

Weed Control

Perhaps the most common of all lawn applications and the one you are most familiar with is weed control. Many consumer-grade weed control products are sold in stores, but not all will be the best choices for your lawn.

Preemergents

The best weed control is weed prevention. That’s why Divine uses preemergents on your lawn. Preemergents, as their name implies, stop weeds before they start.

They don’t kill existing weeds but stop them. One caution with preemergents is that they target anything in the pre-growth stage. Therefore they should only be used on established lawns and added at different times than seeds.

Post Emergergents

Most of the weed control products you find in stores are post-emergents. That means you use them on already existing weeds to kill them.

The problem with post-emergents is that they often will kill whatever they touch, so precision is necessary.

Why Use A Pro for Weed Control?

Weed control is not as simple as it looks. Sure, you can see and spray it, but as we explained, preemergents are usually superior to post-emergents. That said, timing is crucial no matter your weed control application.

You may need to be made aware of your grasses’ growth stage and add a treatment that will damage it. But, unfortunately, it’s also easy to miss the mark and ruin grass or flowers.

Finally, like any chemical, it’s best to use the least effective amount; pros are better at knowing what that amount is.

Pest Control

You may also be familiar with pest control treatments for your lawn. Indiana lawn care includes pest control applications for chinch worms, grubworms, and armyworms, all of which think your lawn is a great treat to munch. You may also spray for mosquitos if you get many of them where you are.

Like weed control, it’s best to let pros administer pest control. You want to protect the beneficial insects and other animals in your yard.

Fertilizer

Not every lawn application is a terminator whose only purpose is to kill or stop something. We also want to help your lawn grow! That’s why many of the lawn treatments we use are fertilizers.

Fertilizers can be a general growth formula to promote the health of your lawn or other plants or can be specifically formulated to include a nutrient lacking in your grass.

So how do you know if your lawn needs fertilizers? There can be many signs your lawn isn’t healthy such as bare patches or discoloration. But the best way to find out what your lawn requires is to do a soil test or talk to a professional landscaping company.

Misapplying fertilizer is less detrimental than misusing the other lawn treatments, but using too much or using it at the wrong time can still damage your lawn. Like weed and pest control, we always recommend using a professional.
